At Novant Health, health care is our business. We recognize that our team members have many different needs when it comes to healthcare. We are committed to providing you with exceptional medical coverage through a variety of plans, tailored to your individual needs.
At Novant Health, we offer a choice of three medical plans, the Cigna Premium and Standard plans or the Bind medical plan. All three plans include prescription drug coverage through MedImpact and have out-of-pocket maximums that place a cap on what you pay for covered services in a plan year.
The Cigna Premium and Standard Plans require higher team member contributions per paycheck and have deductibles, copays and coinsurance. Premium Plan participants in certain coverage tiers receive an initial employer-funded health reimbursement account (HRA)* deposit; however, both plans include the opportunity to earn money in a HRA through the well-being program. (See attached 2022 Medical Plan Rates and Benefit Chart for more details).
Bind is a health plan that removes barriers such as deductibles and coinsurance, while making costs more transparent. The Bind plan allows coverage for less common, plannable treatment to be activated if and when you need coverage. This helps keep your cost down, while providing the flexibility to activate coverage at any time during the year, when and if you need it. The Bind plan has the lowest team member contribution per paycheck.
Provider: Cigna and UHC (Medical TPAs) and MedImpact (Pharmacy TPA)
At Novant Health, our patients’ well-being depends upon our team members’ well-being. All team members are encouraged to participate in our well-being activities and all benefits eligible team members have the opportunity to earn incentives, including team members who are not enrolled in a Novant Health medical plan.
Incentives can be earned throughout the year for a personalized health assessment, having healthy biometric values, completing annual well-being screenings and participating in living healthy webinars or events. Incentives range from $100 to $900 depending upon medical plan election and achievement levels.

Team members do not need to be enrolled in Novant Health medical, dental or vision plans, nor have their dependents enrolled, to contribute to and use the flexible spending account.
Likewise, team members may set aside up to $5,000 ($2,500 if married and filing separately) in a dependent care Flexible Spending Account to pay for childcare or adult dependent care expenses. IRS regulations require that you forfeit any money left in either of these accounts after the claim submission deadline, so team members are encouraged to calculate their predictable expenses carefully.
We know that dental care is essential to good health. Our dental benefits include preventative, basic and major services. Chew on that.
The dental plan is administered by Cigna and offers in-network and out-of-network coverage. Preventative care is covered at 100%, basic care at 80% and major restorative service at 50%. The annual per member in-network maximum is $1,700 or $1,300 for services received outside of the Cigna DPPO network.
Orthodontia is covered at 50% for children and adults and provides a lifetime orthodontia maximum of $1,500 per covered patient.

Military Leave Supplemental Pay - Novant Health is very proud of team members who make personal and professional sacrifices to serve in the US Armed Forces or state National Guard. These special team members may be activated to support national and international US military operations, and when the military pay is less than the base hourly rate of pay they were receiving from Novant Health, it can be a hardship on the team member and family. Military pay supplements will be reviewed at one-year increments counting from the date of commencement of active duty.
