The vibrant and historic Port City is positioned perfectly between the Cape Fear River and Wrightsville Beach, offering activities and enjoyment for all ages. Only a 15-minute venture from coastal vacation living, you’ll arrive in downtown Wilmington, which perfectly balances quaint southern charm and big city living. There are plenty of ways to enjoy the average annual high of 74 degrees including shopping at locally owned boutiques, visiting local seafood and farmers markets, enjoying a night out with friends at one of our award-winning restaurants, or hitting the beach with the whole family.

Enjoy the Traditions of Wilmington

Wilmington is famous for a few major events that make us, us. Every year for Thanksgiving, locals gather for the annual Holiday Flotilla. A holiday parade, just on water, with over 100 vendors, great food, and music for you and your family and friends to take part in. And don’t forget the annual Wrightsville Beach Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning! The Azalea Festival is another major event – a week-long celebration with big-name entertainment, galas, a parade, fireworks and pop-up shops – where the town comes together to celebrate the blooming of the beautiful azaleas.

Another popular Wilmington favorite is the Downtown Sundown concert series every Friday evening May- September. From local performers to bands on tour, there is something wonderful to look forward to at the end of every work week. Best of all - they’re free! You can also catch a show at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater - “one of the most magical and intimate settings to ever experience a concert.”

Healthy Living at its Best

There is absolutely no shortage of things to do in Wilmington for those with an active lifestyle and who love to get outdoors. Surf at the accessible beaches, paddleboard or kayak in the intracoastal waterway for a “before work” workout, or bike or run the Wrightsville Beach 2.8-mile “loop.” It’s no secret that boating is a huge part of the Wilmington community, and so is escaping to Airlie Gardens for a scenic walk. Greenfield Lake Park, Ogden Park, and the Riverwalk downtown also offer active pastimes like tennis, basketball and hiking.
