The Benefits Analyst must have extensive employee benefits experience as they will work directly with, and assist the Director, Benefits & Well-Being and VP, Total Rewards in optimizing the health and welfare and retirement programs. This role serves as the primary liaison to Human Resources Technology in communicating carrier and rate changes for benefits enrollment (open enrollment, new hire, mid-year status change events) and ensures proper set-up in Human Resource Management system.
This position will be based in Wilmington, NC, Winston-Salem, NC or Charlotte, NC; Wilmington, NC is preferred.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collects, analyzes and summarizes employee benefit data and trends using both external and internal data mining methods
- Ensures benefits regulatory compliance with a thorough knowledge of HIPAA, ACA, ERISA, DOL, and COBRA.
- Serves as primary benefits liaison to Finance/Payroll in preparation of ACA 1095 forms.
- Analyzes and recommends manage medical plan stop loss renewals and process insurance carrier reports and initiate stop loss claims to carrier.
- Analyze sand manages health & welfare benefit plan administrative fees and renewals, reviews and prepares accurate invoices of carrier administrative fees, and evaluates proposed insurance carrier contracts and manages implementation of new insurance carriers (medical, pharmacy, life and disability, FSA).
- Coordinates and conduct plan audits, monitors insurance carrier files to ensure accurate eligibility, reviews and updates health and welfare and retirement plan documents and summary plan descriptions, as well as all regulatory notices.
- Provides due diligence support in reviewing and identifying benefit plan concerns and helping to design transition programs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred.
- Five (5) years progressive experience consulting and/or managing benefit programs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Data analysis skills, with experience in analysis, design, implementation and problem resolution both at the team member and program level required.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to collect, analyze and summarize employee benefit data.
- Demonstrated expertise in planning, organizing, and managing insurance carrier implementations or other projects or programs independently.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with benefit program vendors and benefit consultants so as to support effective governance and administration employee benefit programs.
- Able to collaborate effectively with fellow Benefits Center of Expertise team members.
- Knowledge of benefit transition issues in Mergers & Acquisitions and ability to recommend solutions and/or transition programs.
- Interpersonal skills; effective oral and written communication skills.
