Job Overview

The Senior Compensation Specialist provides technical and administrative support for the compensation department by way of fundamental analysis, processing various types of pay adjustments and setting up additional pays including physician and executive programs. This role serves as the primary resource for physician compensation administration and human resource information requests, works effectively with compensation specialists, compensation partners, stakeholders and Human Resources Business Partners, as well as represents the Total Rewards team by promoting Novant Health's Compensation philosophy and People & Culture vision.

*This is a remote role that can be situated in Winston-Salem, NC, Charlotte, NC, Wilmington, NC or Research Triangle Park (RTP), NC. While not regular; occasional travel to Winston-Salem, or within North Carolina for training, project, or stakeholder interaction purposes may be needed*

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in related fieldrequired; 4 Year Bachelor's Degreepreferred
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CCP, PMPpreferred.
  • One (1) year of experience in Healthcare, Human Resources, and/or Compensation specialty, with basic knowledge of core compensation terminology and best practices. 
  • Previous compensation administration in the Healthcare/Medical industry highly preferred.
  • Strong technical skills withdatabases, email and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); proficient with intermediate functions/formulas in MS Excel.
  • Ability to effectively enter data with accuracy, actively finding ways to streamline processes, with essential database and spreadsheet skills.
  • Ability to extract and interpret fundamental pay information from contracts.
  • Skilled in training and solid written, verbal, and graphic communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to varying audiences.
  • Demonstrated relationship development by consistently treating customers and team members with respect and dignity
  • Self-directed, well-organized, detail-oriented, able to effectively set priorities, andmanage/participate in projects of moderate scope.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, with team members and stakeholders across the organization (ex. Legal, Finance, Payroll, and HR Solution Center).
  • Able to provide feedback/guidance on the team, build relationships with team members in a geographically dispersed team and virtual environment.
  • Innovative, outside the box-thinker, with ability to illustrate and maintain systems knowledge and development.
  • Understanding and ability to handle extremely confidential information appropriately.

Responsibilities

**Provider Compensation Administration:

  • Physician Compensation Testing:Administers quarterly testing process in partnership with finance. pulls multiple data reports, compiles, organizes and formats data, runs sets of automated queries, and provides result reports to finance and legal stakeholders.
  • Physician Compensation Leave:Pulls market data and earnings reports based on 4 quarters to follow a defined process, resulting in the leave rate for physicians.
  • Physician Bonuses:Audits bonus files for errors and formatting to ensure a seamless upload, and process bonuses from finance including productivity, non-productivity, lead clinician and APP’s.
  • Completes provider reclassifications, pay rate adjustments, calculates retros, sets up committee payments, medical director, physician market leader pay, APP Supervision Pay, Student Precepting, and Specialty Codes.
  • Assists analyst with provider job code set-ups and changes in the system, communicates frequently with compensation partners, Human Resources Business Partners, and HR stakeholders across the system, as well as serves as a resource across departments for Compensation policies and procedures, including responding to questions and educates on processes, as needed.
  • Audits reoccurring additional pay, bonuses and pay files, sequences in pay periods to ensure accuracy in processing, terminations, and file formatting.
  • Processes pay adjustments as needed in the HR system for providers, sets up, calculates, and maintains various additional pay types, and works with leaders when employees have been over- or underpaid.
  • Calculates payback amounts or retro payments and sets these up in the system.
  • Troubleshoots/researches inquiries or problems related to pay rate changes, contract changes impacting pay or bonus amounts.
  • Works closely with HR Technology and Clinics to ensure providers are paid accurately.
  • Collaborates with provider recruitment as needed in providing details for incoming providers and system data entry.
  • Partners closely with finance, legal, compensation partners and executive compensation on shared processes.
  • May assist with systemwide annual compensation activities, as needed.
  • May assist Executive Compensation with added support, as needed.
