Responsibilities:
• Functions as relief supervision when supervisor is unavailable. | • Coordinates and participates in abstraction, coding of patient and cancer related information, treatment and staging on all cancer patients seen and/or diagnosed. | • Coordinates tumor registry staff, assists with staffing, coordination of work schedules, annual performance reviews, onboarding, training and education, and work productivity. | • Monitors quality of data, develops and provides training for tumor registry staff to ensure data quality and compliance and Commission on Cancer requirements. | • Maintains research database. Manages and analyzes registry data for the purposes of quality, education, research, outcomes, productivity and compliance and Commission on Cancer requirements. | • Facilitates the health system Cancer Committee, providing quarterly updates and assistance with quality improvement initiatives. | • Assists in the development and implementation of changes in policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation changes. | • Participates in the research process through identification of population to be surveyed, determination of data collection methodologies, and performance of data analysis, editing and formatting of reports. | • Accountable for outside agency surveys at primary and secondary facilities/sites/programs as assigned. | • Maintains knowledge and local and national expertise with multiple accreditation standards and certification programs. Assists integration of new facilities as assigned. | • Coordinates facility oncology accreditation with market and corporate resources. Completes accreditation applications required in a timely manner. Assures comprehensive follow-up and tracking of accreditations. Deadlines and expirations are maintained for assigned locations. Recognizes problems that need multiple functions and/or facilities to work together. Provides detailed recommendations to appropriate committees and councils. | • Maintains the required reporting schedule by standard setters and state law; maintain data quality requirements for state reporting. Provides data reports to physicians, administrators, Cancer Committee upon request. | • Analyzes patient information required for state and national reporting and code the information in the electronic registry database according to national coding standards. | | | | Position Requirements | Credentials: Cert Tumor Registrar
Education: Associate Degree Education equivalent experience: 4 years Bachelor Degree preferred
