Summary: Works under the supervision of the Director of Environmental Services. Manages the operations of the Environmental Services Department and, Laundry and Linen, to provide cost effective quality services.
Responsibilities: 1. Participates in and actively supports New Hanover Health Network Standards of Performance and Service Excellence Initiative. 2. Assures that all Environmental Services and Laundry programs are consistent with the Mission, plans, goals and objectives of the Medical Center. 3. Responsible for overall staffing functions and programs including: • Screening, hiring, orientation and retaining of personnel. • Evaluations, competency testing, performance reviews, job descriptions and wok scheduling. • Wage and salary application, promotions and progressive discipline up to and including terminations. 4. Ensures that standards are established and maintained through ongoing Quality Improvements and Planning processes and that standards are in accordance with local, state, and federal agencies (JCAHO, OSHA, EPA, Health Department, etc.). 5. Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with other departments within the Medical Center and with the Medical Staff. 6. Develops and implements programs, within each department, designed in increase efficiency and quality and reduce cost to the Medical Center. 7. Establishes and maintains ongoing productivity standards that can be measured and utilized as comparative data with other hospitals and for determining departmental needs as the Medical Center changes. 8. Makes frequent tours of assigned areas to see that work is being completed, procedures are being followed correctly, and all customer requests are being handled in a timely manner. 9. Maintains staff “Days off” roster and daily sign-in sheets to assure that staffing needs are met, all areas have been covered and that all PDO requests and Holidays have been scheduled 10. Conducts interviews and makes recommendations for hiring of staff to work in assigned areas. 11. Monitors attendance and performance of assigned staff, documenting and counseling with individuals to make recommendations for disciplinary actions, terminations, or promotions when necessary. 12. Assist with budgeting and taking inventory of supplies, equipment and personnel in assigned areas. 13. Responsible for coordinating all work activities in assigned areas. |
Credentials:
Education: Essential: * High School Diploma Other information: 1. Education: Bachelor’s degree or Commensurate Experience. 2. Licensure/Certifications: none. 3. Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience of customer service management preferably in an environmental service or laundry department. Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence. Performs other duties as assigned. Individual will possess commensurate combination of education, experience and qualifications. |
