What You'll Do

Summary:
The Systems Engineer II provides technical leadership for specific enterprise infrastructure systems to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation to support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems. The Systems Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. The System Engineer II provides or assists in all levels support within the organization. The Systems Engineer II position is responsible for specializing in at least one of the following areas: Pure/EMC Storage, Citrix, EPIC Client Server Management (ECSM), AIX, Linux, VMware, O365, and Microsoft SCCM.


Responsibilities:
1. A Technical Team leader for at least one of the Infrastructure technology teams responsible for the assessment, design, implementation and support of EPIC ECSM, Vmware, Citrix, AIX/Linux, Windows, Pure/EMC Storage technologies, O365, and Microsoft SCCM.
2. Work with the Solution Architect to ensure that proposed and existing technologies are aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
3. Work with the Technical teams and Solution Architect to ensure that appropriate technologies are monitored to provide event, incident management and problem management.
4. Effectively leads event management, incident management and problem management as it relates to the Vmware, Citrix, AIX/Linux, Windows, Pure/EMC Storage technologies, O365, and Microsoft SCCM.
5. Provide technical expertise, direction, and assistance in the area of EPIC ECSM, Citrix, O365, VMware and/or Pure/EMC Storage to Systems Analysts, Systems Engineers, and other technical teams as required.
6. Develop, document, and communicate plans for investing in supported technologies, including analysis and cost reduction opportunities.
7. Works with Solution Architect, Infrastructure, and Application Teams to engineer systems to accommodate the growth and integrity of the organization systems and applications.
8. Communicates effectively in order to provide optimal support of all departments’ Information systems needs in a manner that promotes a professional climate throughout the Medical Center.
9. Provides all levels of support by responding to escalated Help Desk requests from end-users; defining priorities, answering questions, and resolving problems. This support includes participating in the IS on-call rotation.
10. Troubleshoots problems with supported technologies and applications.
11. Maintains knowledge and certification of assigned/supported technology.
12. Maintains current and orderly reference library, including working with technical teams to maintain up-to-date documentation and comprehensive inventory of all supported systems.
13. Works with technical support vendors to resolve systems issues and problems. Works closely with the Technical Teams and IS Management to document levels of maintenance to include vendor contact, support contracts and or spare parts and or redundant system information and maintains the information monthly/quarterly and annually.
14. Helps define and maintain standards, procedures and policies relating to supported technologies.
15. Implements and leads Technology projects. Effectively communicates system upgrades and downtimes while escalating issues within the organization as needed.
16. Helps the Information Systems Manager prepare annual budgets.
17. Assist in the review of all Change Control Requests submitted by IS teams in order to help gauge impact to and actions required by NHRMC staff

(Current employees who were hired or transitioned into this position before Mar 1, 2019 are grandfathered using the educational requirement in place at the time they were hired or transitioned into the core job title(s) of Systems Engineer II, Enterprise Backup Rec Engineer)
2. Licensure/Certifications:
Systems Infrastructure – Systems Engineer II: Exceptional technical competency in the areas of enterprise Server, Storage, SCCM and Cloud infrastructure. Superb working knowledge in the planning, installation, monitoring, and deployment of enterprise Server and Storage infrastructure. Strong working knowledge of LAN/WAN networking, networking support services, scripting, and Cloud computing preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with a strong history of continuing education, growth, and implementation of evolving technologies required.
Licensure/Certifications: Required: Vmware Certified Advanced Professional, Pure Storage Foundation, EMC Information Storage Associate, IBM Certified System Administrator, Linux Foundation Certified SysAdmin, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Certified Solution Associate-Cloud Platform
Reports to: Systems Infrastructure Manager
Applications Infrastructure – Systems Engineer II: Exceptional technical competency in the areas of Active Directory, Citrix application deployment and infrastructure, or Epic (EHR) Client Systems Administrator roles. Superb working knowledge of proactive monitoring solutions for these environments as well as group policy deployment. Knowledge of network/packet tracing tools for troubleshooting preferred. Solid verbal and written communication skills along with a strong willingness of continuing education, growth, and implementation of evolving technologies required.
Licensure/Certifications: Required: Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate, Applicable Epic/ECSM Certification (within 1 yr), or Citrix Certified Associate
Reports to: Applications Infrastructure Manager
3. Experience: Minimum 5 year’s progressive experience in a related area of Information services with demonstrated competency.
Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Individual will possess commensurate combination of education, experience and qualifications.
