What You'll Do


The Coordinator-LCSW works under the supervision of the Mgr Community Engagement and is responsible for the administrative and operational activities of the clinical programs in the dept. The Coordinator regularly performs the job duties of the LCSW and is accountable for assuring quality outcomes. The Coordinator has the authority to enforce the Standards of Behavior and works to ensure the mission, vision and values for the organization are upheld on a daily basis.


1.Conducts comprehensive assessments with high risk populations to enhance the plan of care, provide appropriate interventions, and recommendations for follow-up care and services.

2.Provides psychotherapy and crisis intervention/counseling as an immediate support to patients, families and significant others, coping with difficult situations within the acute psychiatric care setting, as well as a preventative intervention to assist patients and families in improving functional problem solving.

3.Develops, organizes, and implements individual/group methods and when clinically indicated, provides counseling/therapy for individuals and families. Provides and facilitates educational and/or process groups with specific populations in areas of the acute psychiatric care setting as needed (i.e., newly diagnosed mental health disorder or comorbid disorder, coping with traumatic life events, diagnosis management)

4.Practices within the strength-based perspective to identify patient and family strengths and assist patients in building on these strengths to empower them to work toward positive change. Will also use additional evidenced-based proactive therapeutic paradigms that bolster the medical model of care (i.e. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing).

5.Will possess strong theoretical framework and concordant skills as to display competency and familiarity of such therapeutic interventions.Execute a thorough evaluation of patient’s home environment, social/collateral supports, and community for the purpose of securing and cultivating a plan for patient’s safety beyond the acute psychiatric setting.

6.Assumes level of “expert” knowledge of community resources and facilitates connecting patient/families with needed services.Facilitates referrals for patients to support their mental and health care needs, connecting them with community resources and supportive agencies. In addition, provides collaborative interagency efforts and meetings for the purpose of obtaining/enhancing comprehensive care.

7.Conducts patient, couples sessions, and family meetings to discuss various options for next level-of-care including establishing a home support system or alternative living placement plan, which is realistic in relation to the patient’s present and potential function, emotional, and developmental capabilities and is attainable in relation to resources available (i.e., elderly, homeless)

8.Interacts in a professional manner and maintains the ethical standards of NASW Code of Ethics.

9.Maintains and sustains LCSW licensure consistently through the North Carolina Social Work Licensing Board (NCSWLB).

10.Organizes and performs work effectively and efficiently.

11.Coordinates with treatment team members to proactively address concerns related to patients and timeliness of discharges.

12.Facilitates the orientation and education of staff. Tracks adherence of all mandatory education and assists with staff development.

13.Addresses disciplinary issues using the disciplinary process following discussion with the manager.

14.Coordinates daily assignments to assure adequate coverage and assists in the development of staffing schedules.

15.Assists with performance appraisals as directed by the management team.

Position Requirements

* Licensed Clinical Soc Wkr

* Bachelors Degree
* Masters of Social Worker

Other information:

Experience: One (1) years as a Clinical Social Worker, including experience in individual, group and family therapy preferred.

Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence. 

Performs other duties as assigned. 

Individual will possess commensurate combination of education, experience and qualifications.
