What You'll Do


Provides fair and consistent day-to-day benefit administration to a group of benefit eligible employees and their dependents using well-defined benefit plan rules, HR polices and Lawson system procedures, as well as, in accordance with local, state and federal law. 


1.Responsible for accurate and timely administration of benefits for a defined group of benefit eligible employees. Core benefit plan administration includes health, dental, vision, life insurances, and LTD. Fringe benefit plan administration includes, but is not limited to, supplemental family life insurance and College Foundation.

2.Serves as subject matter expert to end customers (Business Partners and employees.)

3.Takes initiative to research reasonable and responsible solutions to escalating employee benefit issues. Works with providers to resolve problems whenever possible. Advises employee of their options and responsibilities through written correspondence, phone calls and personal meetings. Has frequent contact with managers regarding dispositions, utilizing HIPAA documentation procedures when discussing confidential information.

4.Administers COBRA benefits including enrolling COBRA eligible participants, posting checks in Lawson, preparing a weekly deposit report for Fiscal Services, tracking expiration of eligibility, and processing termination of COBRA benefits.

5.Manages Leave of Absences to include eligibility, benefit continuation, manager notification, preparing / processing applicable LTD applications and Life Insurance Waiver of Premiums. Ensures compliance with applicable FMLA, HIPAA, WC, ADA, state and federal laws.

6.Presents Benefit Orientation to benefit eligible employees during new hire orientation. Organizes and assists with benefit related events including Open Enrollment, the Benefit Fair, Employee Discount Fair, and benefit seminars. Assists in ongoing employee communications such as the Benefits Bulletin.

7.Identifies, suggests and implements ongoing process improvements.

8.Reviews missed deduction report and advises Benefits Coordinator of payment and/or participant status for purposes of billing. Generates missed deduction letters and sends them to the appropriate employee. Posts payments as necessary.

9.Performs data entry for deduction amount changes.

10.Prepares notification of benefit options based on FTE changes. Tracks enrollment to ensure employees meet enrollment deadlines.

11.Participates in benefits special projects as assigned.
