What You'll Do

Summary:

1.Provides basic patient care within established guidelines. Assists professional staff with patient care under direct supervision of Professional Registered Nurse. Documents appropriate and pertinent information on the patient care record. The EDT works under the direction of the Nurse Manager and under the direct supervision of the RN/LPN designee. Performs a variety of basic patient care activities in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. The EDT provides clerical activities that include transcribing, communicating, and maintaining written information. They communicate verbal information accurately and courteously and provide assistance to customers and team members. Responsible for completing a variety of department specific tasks to assist with optimal department safety and functioning.


Responsibilities:

1.Provides basic patient care within established guidelines. Assists professional staff with patient care under direct supervision of Professional Registered Nurse. Documents appropriate and pertinent information on the patient care record.

2.Accurately transcribes and processes provider orders and written information accurately in accordance to PMH’s policies.

3.Organizes, prioritizes, and performs work effectively and efficiently.

4.Facilitates the flow of patients throughout the hospital by accurately transferring and discharging patients in the appropriate systems in a timely manner.

5.Obtains EKG’s.

6.Receives and processes EMS radio calls, notifies appropriate staff accordingly of incoming patients, and prepares area for patient reception.

7.Cleans clinical and non-clinical areas and stocks supplies according to standards.

8.Maintains and adjusts schedule to enhance team performance

9.Demonstrates a daily commitment to the values of the department

10.Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations in dealing with all members of the team and customers.

11.Maintains and promotes customer satisfaction.

12.Performs phlebotomy, specimen collection/processing and moderate or waived point of care testing per CLIA guidelines.

Position Requirements

Credentials:
Essential:
* Cert Nursing Asst I

Education:
Essential:
* General Education Degree

Other information:

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

2.Certifications: Maintain current status on the Nurse Aide I and/or NA II registry. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support required. Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Experience: Experience preferred. Prefer knowledge/experience with medical terminology. Experience in basic patient care, phlebotomy, EKG in an emergency or outpatient setting highly desirable. 

Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence. 

Performs other duties as assigned. 

Individual will possess commensurate combination of education, experience and qualifications.
