What You'll Do


Registered Nurse who works under the supervision and direction of the Director, Clinical Effectiveness and Patient Safety to coordinate all aspects of core measure abstraction, analysis, improvement and data submission. Ensures compliance with CMS/TJC data abstraction specifications and submission requirements. Acts as a resource for updates and changes in the core measure process. Provides assistance with analyzing performance data and trends to achieve unit specific and hospital-wide goals. Works closely with Outcomes Managers to analyze data and formulate quality improvement projects necessary to improve the care of our global patient population.


1.Coordinates data abstraction requirements to support timely completion and validation of all public core measure reporting projects for The Joint Commission, Core Measures, APU, HQI, CMS and HOPQDRP.

2.Assures timely and accurate measurement of mandatory requirements, providing appropriate reports to the CEPS Director to take action on.

3.Processes data abstraction for quality measurement while ensuring timely and accurate submission of data.

4.Provides data to CEPS Director monthly including JCORE Measures, IHI Initiatives and other performance measures as requested.

5.Provides updates and interpretation of quality measures and guidelines as received.

6.Coordinates the distribution of timely and meaningful reports/charts in order to facilitate effective problem solving and action plans.

7.Assists with the development of ongoing education regarding data abstraction and the core measures.

8.Organizes and performs work effectively and efficiently.

9.Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations in dealing with all members of the team.

Other information:

Experience: 2-4 years of professional clinical experience in an acute care setting. Prior experience with case data collection/abstraction is preferred. 

Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence. 

Performs other duties as assigned. 

Individual will possess commensurate combination of education, experience and qualifications.
