Overview

Summary:
The Manager of Regional Continuing Nursing Education is a position within the Continuing Education department of the South East Area Health Education Center of New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Under the supervision of the Director of Continuing Education, the Manager will be responsible for developing and managing educational programming to serve the nurses within the SEAHEC region. The Manager will develop sound working relationships and cooperative contractual arrangements with regional health providers, institutions of higher education, and subject matter experts in order to create and provide quality education, training, and resources. The Manager will ensure adherence to the ANCC guidelines and maintain nurse accreditation status to ensure the provision of nursing credit. The Manager will support the RN workforce development through the RN Refresher Program.

The Manager will work collaboratively with colleagues within the North Carolina AHEC system to carry out statewide education initiatives decided by the North Carolina AHEC Nursing Education Leadership group.

Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing programming for a 5-county region.
2. Enforces adherence to ANCC accreditation guidelines and maintains accreditation status
3. Work with other educational disciplines to assure interdisciplinary training needs are being met.
4. Administrates the RN Refresher Program, Clinical Site Development Grant, and Educational Mobility Grant as well as other NC AHEC Initiatives
5. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community partners
6. Serves on State and Regional Committees as directed
7. Negotiates contracts with vendors, speakers, and venues
8. Develops, promotes and participates in personal and professional development activities
9. Collaborates with other members of the CE Leadership Team to enhance learning for the staff and the health care members and providers of the region
10. Acts as a liaison between health care agencies, academic centers and health care providers
11. Attends meetings and functions as assigned by state office, regional referrals, academic centers and community associations

Qualifications

Credentials:
Essential:
* Registered Nurse

Education:
Essential:
* Bachelor of Nursing

Other information:
Education: BSN Required; Master’s degree preferably in nursing, adult education or related field.
Licensure / Certifications: R.N.
Experience: Three (3) years management experience required. Experience in Continuing Education preferred.
Organization, ability to multi-task, and time management skills are required. Strong communication (written and oral) and ability to work well with community partners is essential. Comfortable leading meetings, presenting, and public speaking with individuals at all levels within the healthcare realm.
Required: Experience with and ability to use mobile devices, printers, copiers, fax machines, and computers. Proficiency in: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Proficiency in or high level of comfort in learning in a web-based learning management system.
Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence.
Performs other duties as assigned.
