Work Schedule: 10HR DAY - Most of shift btwn 8AM-6:30PM (4 Days/Week)

Overview

Summary:
The Tele-Psychiatry Specialist is responsible for coordinating and initiating all remote face to face psychiatry consults for patients on medical floors, maintaining and managing patients waitlisted for admission to the Behavioral Health Hospital and collaborates with team at Behavioral Health Hospital to facilitate patient transfer after medical clearance. The Tele-Psychiatry Specialist will work closely with the patient care team to provide input to patient treatment, safety, and involuntary committed process, as well as provide and obtain collateral information and will work independently in a mobile fashion to all units requesting consults.

 

Responsibilities:
1. Triage and disposition all phone calls from Tele-Psychiatry provider and requesting care team.
2. Collaborates with physicians and other team members to obtain appropriate disposition or treatment.
3. Accurately enter data and a myriad of health information into an array of programs.
4. Work independently and efficiently to ensure timely consults.
5. Manages throughput process for patient being admitted to the Behavioral Health Hospital from a medical floor.
6. Maintains, demonstrates, and relays in depth knowledge on the involuntary commitment process.
7. Demonstrates positive and effective interpersonal communication among multiple disciplines.
8. Appropriately communicates information in accordance with the hospital policy and procedures including shift report and SBAR techniques.
9. Organizes and prioritizes work and time in a mobile setting throughout the network to ensure effective and efficient patient flow.
10. Annually continues personal development to enhance practice and profession.

Qualifications

Credentials:

Education:
Essential:
* Bachelors Degree

Other information:
1. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related Human Services Field.
2. Certification: North Carolina Social Work Certification preferred. American Heart Association BLS required.
3. Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a health care setting.
Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence. Performs other duties as assigned. Individual will possess commensurate combination of education, experience and qualifications.
