Summary:
Works under the supervision of the Radiology (CT) Operations Manager, coordinates delivery of CT services by assigning technologists work, scheduling patients, checking quality of CT scans, maintaining and updating CT protocols across the New Hanover network, performs procedures ordered by physician to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of neonate (0-28 days), infant (1-12 months), children (1-12 years), adolescent (13-17 years), adult (18-72 years), and geriatric (72+ years) patients. May perform moderate or waived point of care testing per CLIA guidelines, based upon completion if initial training with appropriate documentation and on going annual competency assessment. The initial competency assessment should be done six months post training, and annually thereafter. Responsibilities:
1.With the assistance of the Imaging Manager is responsible for ACR accreditation at all sites including New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Cape Fear Hospital, and all H&D sites. 2.Maintains, updates and ensures standardization of policies, protocols, and procedures for all sites including New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Cape Fear Hospital, and all H&D sites. 3.Acts as preceptor for new employees and students. 4.Educates and trains staff in new procedures and exams. 5.Assigns Technologists and support personnel to work areas and cases based on patient workload. 6.Schedules patients’ appointments in coordination with technologist, physician, test and resources. 7.Checks quality of exams to be reviewed by physicians. 8.Performs CT procedures. 9.Along with CT manager, acts as CT liaison with physicians, technologists, physician practices, and H&D sites. 10.Serves in recommending role for hiring and discharging employees. 11.Responsible for training, counseling, teaching, scheduling, performance appraisals and, as appropriate, discipline of employees working in assigned section. 12.Ensures that work assignments are fair and consistent with abilities and job description. 13.Develops work schedules to achieve optimal usage of assigned personnel. 14.Meets with staff and promotes ideas regarding improvements in CT Services. 15.Meets with manager regularly to review and discuss issues and concerns within assigned areas. 16.Provides guidance for employees with respect to confidentiality of patient results and monitors employees in this regard. 17.Consults with Radiologist when problems arise with patient procedures. 18.Keeps network CT personnel abreast of protocol changes and updates. |
