The Staff Nurse Anesthetist/CRNA II provides professional, competent anesthesia care to a wide variety of patients, from pediatric up to geriatric population, requiring surgical, obstetrical, and other anesthesia services. In addition, the Staff Nurse Anesthetist/CRNA II utilizes skills obtained through additional training, education and/or experience in the provision of anesthesia care to patients who present with complex and unique anesthetic requirements


Responsibilities:

Essential Functions •Procedure: Demonstrates knowledge of pre-anesthetic assessment skills. Administers intravenous and inhalation anesthetic agents appropriate for the age and condition of the patient served. Implements patient monitoring standards for general or regional anesthesia. Maintains clinical and professional competency according to department policies, procedures and protocols as appropriate for the age of patient(s) served. Performs anesthesia-related interdisciplinary responsibilities. Complies with and supports organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Provide anesthesia care to patients who present with complex and complicated, pre-existing disease, advanced disease states and/or present with complex and unique anesthetic requirements. These patients include, but are not limited to, trauma victims requiring resuscitative, diagnostic and surgical restoration, patients who often present with multi-system diseases and failure requiring numerous anesthetic considerations. Pediatric patients who require reparative surgical procedures or non-surgical procedures. Patients that require intensive monitoring so that the surgical procedure may be completed. Patients who present with chronic and/or multi-system diseases for out-patient and/or Ambulatory Care procedures and treatments, patients whose procedures and treatments require potentially compromising operative positions, patients who present with extremes of nutritional state, and patients that present for multiple extremes under a continuous anesthetic. •Responsibility and Initiative: Demonstrates the willingness, ability, and flexibility to provide anesthesia in the various anesthetizing locations. Serve as an active member of the department who researches, communicates, instructs, and assists in providing continuing education on anesthesia care for these patients with their anesthesia colleagues. Accepts additional departmental duties as directed by the Manager. •Responsible for unit management: Daily operations, facilitate day to day schedule management, API schedules/days off/vacations, patient care assignments, supervise Anesthesia Technician, encourage communication to promote team work, participate in interviews. Promote excellent customer service with patients/physicians/staff. Assure policies/procedures are adhered to, partner with CEETNA Physicians and Anesthesiologists, represent CRNAs to leadership and attend meetings. Promote and plan education program.

* Registered Nurse
* Cert RN Anesthetist

Education:
Essential:
* Bachelor of Nursing

Other information:

Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree required. BSN required. Graduate from both an accredited School of Nursing and School of Nurse Anesthesia. Listed on the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and recognized by the state of practice as an Advanced Practitioner. Must have 40 hours of continuing education every two years to maintain CRNA certification.

Experience: Minimum of five years experience as a CRNA required

Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state required. CRNA by NBCRNA required

Additional Skills/Requirements (required) •Must have extensive knowledge of current anesthetic agents, techniques, drugs and equipment. Has knowledge and skills necessary to modify the anesthetic care suitable to patient age. Must have considerable ability to make independent decisions, sometimes under stress, and to maintain a professional demeanor with patients, coworkers and physicians.
