About the Job | Location: New Hanover Medical Group Department: NHMG-Myrtle Grove Radiology Full Time Equivalent: FTE: 0.4 Work Schedule: 8HR DAY Exempt from Overtime: Exempt: No | What You'll Do | Summary: Works under the general direction of the Radiology Manager this employee produces two dimensional ultrasonic recordings and Doppler flow analyses of heart and related structures for use by Physician in diagnosis of heart disease and study of heart. Responsibilities:
1. Explain procedures to patient to obtain cooperation and reduce anxieties of patient 2. Attach electrodes to patient’s chest to monitor heart rhythm and connects electrodes to electrode leads of ultrasound equipment 3. Adjust equipment controls according to physician’s orders and areas of heart to be examined 4. Key patient information into computer on equipment to record on video cassette and strip printout of test 5. Start ultrasound equipment that produces images of real time tomographic cardiac anatomy and adjusts equipment to obtain quality images 6. Move transducer, by hand, over patient’s hear areas, observes ultrasound display screen and listens to Doppler signals to acquire date for measurement of blood flow velocities 7. Print pictures of graphic analysis recordings and removes videocassette for permanent record of internal examination 8. Measure heart wall thicknesses and chamber sizes recorded on strip printout or keys commands into computer to measure thicknesses and changer sizes of heart on videotape and compares measurement to standard norms to identify abnormalities in heart 9. Measure blood flow velocities and calculates data such as cardiac phsicology and valve areas for evaluation of cardiac function by physician 10. Review test results with interpreting physician 11. Print daily encounter forms, perform reminder calls and enter data into the proper Radiology exam recording system as directed by the Manager 12. Supervise the CT/Vascular Tech Assistant 13. Serves as Lead Technical person in Vascular lab | Position Requirements | Credentials: Education:
Associate degree Other information: 1. Education: Associate degree or equivalent from a two year or technical school or six months to one year related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience 2. Licensure / Certifications: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), CPR/BLS certified 3. Experience: None Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence. Performs other duties as assigned.
