What You'll Do

Summary:

Works under the supervision of the Environmental Services Coordinator. The Environmental Services Assistant, Minor cleans and serves patient, public, departmental and administration areas maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in assigned areas. This position will be excluded from providing support in the following departments: Emergency Department, Behavioral Health areas and Labor and Delivery areas.


Responsibilities:

1. Assemble cleaning supplies and equipment for transporting safely to designated area. 

2. Must be able to perform routine and discharge patient rooms according to department standards. 

3. Must be able to perform routine cleaning of all general area and public restrooms. 

4. Must be proficient in removal and proper policy of separation of all types of hazardous waste and be able to share that knowledge. 

5. Moves furniture for cleaning and meeting set-ups. 

6. Demonstrates knowledge of hazardous chemicals and safe use of equipment reporting and malfunctions to coordinator. 

7. Promotes customer satisfaction by scheduling cleaning function around patient needs and requests. 

8. Demonstrates standard of performance (ownership, teamwork communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence. 

9. Performs other related duties as required.

1. Education: Must be able to read and write the English language and follow instructions, both written and verbal. 

2. Licensure / Certifications: None. 

3. Youth under the age of 18 who work in North Carolina must have a Youth Employment Certificate prior to beginning work. Employer must verify the youth's age, proposed job duties and any restrictions. Employer shall ensure that the youth is not employed in any hazardous and detrimental occupations. The Youth Employment Certificate will be signed by the youth, the parent/guardian and the employer via electronic signature.

NOTE: Work Hour Limitations for Youths 

16 and 17-year-old youth may be employed with the following restrictions: 

During the school term, youth who are enrolled in grades 12 or lower cannot be employed between11 pm and 5 am when there is school for the youth the next day. 

Minors are not permitted to operate heavy equipment, work from a ladder or scaffolding over 20 feet, drive an automobile to transport passengers, and must take precaution to avoid exposure to toxic chemicals and radioactive substances.
