Summary:
The IP Tech works under the supervision of the ultrasound Coordinator and Manager, Radiology Operations. Performs Ultrasound procedures ordered by a physician to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of neonate (0-28 days), infant (1-12 months), children (1-12 years), adolescent (13-17 years), adult (18-72 years) and geriatric (72+ years) patients. Responsibilities:
1.Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures and invasive ultrasound guided procedures. 2.Completes examinations by documenting all appropriate procedural related information. 3.Assume Charge Technologists role as needed and when assigned. 4.Assists with training and teaching of students in the ultrasound department. 5.Provides for patient’s physical and emotional needs in a wide variety of circumstances. 6.Transports patients as needed for all sections of the Radiology Department. 7.Responsible for assigned shifts to include participating in the holiday rotation, on call schedule and storm team. 8.Performs/Documents QA and QC based on ultrasound protocols. Discuss outcomes with ultrasound Coordinator or Manager as needed. 9.Tag equipment in need of repair and reach out to Biomed as needed. 10.Work closely and professionally with Radiologists, Physicians Assistant’s (PAs) and other Technologists. Consults with Radiologists or Physicians Assistant’s (PAs) when problems or questions arise with patient procedures. 11.Serves in a recommending role for hiring personnel. 12.Follow up-to-date scan protocols as indicated by ACR guidelines. 13.Promotes new and innovative ideas that could provide for better customer service or improved workflow. 14.Interact with other areas of the Radiology Department in order to provide optimal patient care. 15.Monitor supplies in the ultrasound department to ensure ordering is done in a timely manner.Assist with putting away supplies and rotating stock as appropriate. 16.Check Trophon logs routinely for missing information and assist with collecting logs for Coordinator at the end of the month. 17.Help prepare for ACR and other accreditation surveys at NHRMC. 18.Attend committee meetings and collaborate on and/or lead projects when needed. 19.Effectively demonstrates the mission, vision, and values of the medical center on a daily basis. 20.This job code can also be used by CHA Perinatal Sonographers when they care clocked into department 6720 at the main campus hospital. |
