Summary:
The Radiation Therapy Liaison is responsible for input of patient data, orders, scheduling and scanned documents to ensure radiation oncology department maintains efficient workflow. This position works closely with Patient Access staff, Nursing, Medical Staff, and Medical Records to gather and input all necessary documentation in radiation oncology EMR’s. Maintains patient schedules and assists internal/external customers in person or on the phone with any problems. Maintains the ability to perform other job duties associated with the position as assigned. Responsibilities:
1.Performs daily system operations of the radiation oncology applications (i.e. Aria, Epic, Centricity, On-Base) but is not limited to patient data input, scheduling, order verification, scanning in documents, ordering outside records/ films 2.Responds to user requests by answering questions in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and providing general assistance when necessary.Answers and screens telephone calls, records messages, and relays information.Greets patients and staff in a professional manner at reception area and performs limited registration and money collection and/or patient support duties as needed 3.Establishes procedure to collect, input and extrapolate confidential patient data to create an accurate database for statistical reporting purposes. 4.Functions as department liaison with the ARIA system Epic to assist with implementation and integration of patient scheduling for treatments, charges and billing.Responsible for support and training of staff. 5.Establishes and maintains patient medical records in the Radiation Therapy Department.Archives appropriate clinical documentation and films according to protocol to ensure retrieval as required on a daily basis. 6.Demonstrates expertise in the operation of Microsoft Office applications. 7.Responsible for patient scheduling; initial appointments and follow up visits. 8.Triages all inter and intra departmental correspondence to include patient inquires and physician referrals. 9.Participates in the timely and efficient admission, transfer and discharge of patients. 10.Triages and manages patient scheduling based on patient’s principal diagnosis and intensity of disease, by coordinating with physicians, physician assistants, and nursing. Manages and controls release of information via facsimile machine to provide for maximum confidentiality and appropriateness of transmission via “fax”. |
