The Life Support Program Coordinator is responsible and accountable for supporting and/or facilitating the ongoing Responder, BLS, ALS, ASLS, and PALS educational needs of personnel throughout Novant Health.


Responsibilities:

Essential Functions • Consultation: Guides the provision of resuscitation response training for all Novant Health clinical team members. Provides expert consultation to Code Blue and Rapid Response Teams. Works collaboratively with other educators across the system for effective planning of life support curricula. Consults in care delivery and process improvement activities, as needed. Works with community leaders for any life support needs. • Expertise: Maintains expertise in resuscitation and clinical standards, policies, procedures, and educational resources. Works with nursing and clinical leaders to assess core resuscitation competencies. Facilitates the administration of life support courses for a multidisciplinary training network. Ensures compliance with the contractual, educational, quality improvement and regulatory requirements of life support programs. Performs administrative activities to ensure efficient and effective operations; inclusive of training center management, record keeping, and budget. Positively promotes the work of the training center with internal and external customers. Participates in training when new products/equipment are introduced for any life support courses. • Instruction: Teaches life support/resuscitation core curricula. Provides updates to all training center faculty regarding resuscitation concepts, changes to resuscitation standards and protocols, and curriculum revisions. Maintains teaching materials related to life support training. • Research and evidence-based practice: Maintains professional growth and development inclusive of resuscitation science, skills, and knowledge. Supports and implements research and evidence-based practice. Stays abreast of all life support measures by other appropriate organizations such as but not limited to AHA, AAP, etc.

Position Requirements


Other information:

Education: High School or GED Required. 2 Year / Associate Degree - Certification or degree in Nursing, Health or previous life support teaching, leadership and program management experience preferred. 

Experience: Previous life support teaching, leadership and program management experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification Type (ex NP, RN, CMA): Relevant instructor/trainer cert (BLS, ACLS, PALS) Preferred. Relevant instructor/trainer cert (NRP/ASLS) Preferred.

Additional Skills/Requirements (required) • Current and future trends/practice in area of responsibility; regulatory and governing standards, policies and procedures; information systems and software used in area of responsibility; equipment used in performing assigned duties; application of safety and infection control policies and procedures; teambuilding, conflict management, and interpersonal relationship skills; principles of adult learning and teaching methods/models; effective classroom presentation style; decision making, project leadership and consultation, delegation and communication skills; understanding of customer needs and expectations and knowledge for improvement to exceed customer expectations; ability to write effectively.

Additional Skills/Requirements (preferred) • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates conduct that is respectful of others. Communicates with respect to other members of the health team, patients, families, and visitors. • Essential Mental Abilities: Writing and leadership skills. Requires higher level of mental faculties accompanied by short and long-term memory. • Other - Hours of Work: Flexible hours to meet educational, departmental and institution needs.
