Summary:
Complex clerical position involving multiple tasks and functions. Responsible for the accuracy and completion of patient registration based on departmental and organizational policies and procedures. Also responsible for scheduling appointments, tests, procedures and referrals for patients. Answers phone calls and communicates with other health care facilities and providers. Facilitates the flow of patient information across the continuum of care. Prioritizes multiple requests for assistance from patients, staff and physicians. Performs duties necessary to ensure all accounts are processed accurately and efficiently. Responsibilities:
1.Registers and pre-registers patients, collects and corrects, as necessary, all patient demographic, insurance and financial data and obtains authorization numbers as necessary. 2.Schedules patient appointments, tests, procedures and referrals in an accurate and competent manner within established policies and procedures. 3.Facilitates patient referrals/authorizations as necessary; collects copays and outstanding balances, participates in meeting the department’s monthly collection target, 4.Calculates and collects cash payments appropriately, ensuring daily reconciliation of change fund and deposit. 5.Provides customer service to patients and their families in need of intervention and assistance. 6.Works with patients to identify payment resources for uninsured or under-insured patients. 7.Maintains current knowledge base related to CMS, third party payors and organizational policies and procedures relevant to registration and scheduling of patients. 8.Works with the clinical staff to determine medical necessity of services and completion of required documentation 9.Organizes and performs work effectively and efficiently. |
