Summary:
Works under the supervision of the Manager of Anatomic Pathology and or a Histology Technologist.The Technical Assistant assists in the collection of tissue specimens and helps in the preparation of these specimens for processing and other procedures.Assists in clerical support functions such as accessioning, filing of tissues, blocks, and slides, and utilizing laboratory computer system for recording and retrieval of information.
Responsibilities:
1.Collect tissue specimens, and assists in the preparation of these specimens for processing and other procedures. 2.Prepare reagents and perform some uncomplicated procedures. 3.Perform clerical functions such as accessioning, labeling of specimens, recording and retrieval of information utilizing the laboratory computer system. 4.Maintain a filing system of tissues, blocks and slides in numerical order. 5.Comply with standards set by the Medical Center and regulatory/accrediting agencies. 6.Demonstrate interpersonal skills while performing assigned duties. 7.Generate appropriate and required documentation of testing and support procedures. 8.Perform routine technical functions such as staining of tissues, changing solutions of instruments, assisting PA’s in gross dictation of tissue specimens. |
