What You'll Do

Summary:

The Manager of Heart Failure (HF) Services and Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) Clinic works under the supervision of the Clinical Administrator of Cardiac Services and in a dyad relationship with the Medical Director of the Heart Failure Program. The Manager of HF Services and LVAD Clinic is responsible for developing and implementing the strategic plan of the heart failure program in alignment with regulatory requirements and the mission, vision and values of the health system for the coastal region of Novant Health. Additional responsibilities include managing the LVAD clinic daily operations, including supervision of all clinic staff in a direct reporting relationship. 


Responsibilities:

1. Manage programs related to heart failure quality and outcomes, ensures accuracy of data collection, and upholds accountability for clinical protocol adherence and performance improvement priorities across all care sites 2. Develops standards of care, policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure evidence-based care delivery to HF patients across the continuum 3. Leads regulatory and/or credentialing designation and verification projects and site visits 4. Manages heart failure services staff, including advanced care providers, who are affiliated with the LVAD clinic. 5. Provides oversight and is accountable for financial performance of the of the program and LVAD clinic. 6. Maintains excellent working relationships with the health system’s departments to elevate the patient care experience 7. Coordinates leadership development of the heart failure program employees and ensures continuing education requirements, credentialing, and licensure is maintained in accordance to regulatory and health system requirements 8. Manages the INTERMACs advanced HF national quality registry. Ensures data timeliness, accuracy, and validity, and reports data to stakeholders regularly in accordance with the system’s quality structure. 9. Supports the integration of health system services for HF and LVAD patients including pre-hospital care, initial stabilization, inpatient care, critical care, inpatient therapy, rehabilitation, case management, and outpatient care 10. Participates in peer networks and professional organizations to gain current insight and best practices relevant to the heart failure care 11. Collaborates with community organizations to maximize the health, wellness, and safety of the heart failure patient 12. Develops and maintains positive relationships with the medical staff, establishing a continuum of care across multiple medical and surgical disciplines. Fosters communication between referring physicians and the heart failure medical providers to ensure seamless patient care 13. Maintains in-depth knowledge of the AHA/ACC HF guidelines and has expertise in HF pathophysiology and patient management 14. Serves as a resource and consultant on issues related to the standards of care for HF patients and monitors compliance with implementing standards of care 15. Maintains and adjusts schedule to enhance team performance 16. Effectively demonstrates the mission, vision, and values of the health system at all times. 17. Performs all other job duties as assigned

Other information:

1. Education: Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) required. Certified Heart Failure Nurse (CHFN) specialty certification required. 2. Licensure: Active, unrestricted licensure to practice nursing in the state of NC required 3. Experience: Five years of clinical experience in cardiovascular care required with preferred experience in cardiac critical care. At least three years of leadership experience required.
