The Number One job responsibility of the assistant nurse manager (ANM), nurse residencies, is to deliver the most remarkable patient experience, in every dimension, every time. This leader plans, implements, and evaluates both the SNAP and nursing preceptor programs
Responsibilities:
1. Mission, Vision, and Values: Translates the organization’s mission, vision, and values to align and optimize the activities of transitioning nurses at Novant Health. Role models values in all interactions. 2. Leadership: Demonstrates Novant Health leader competencies. 3. Building Partnerships: Maintains an environment that supports and respects diversity, active communication, and regular dialogue with team members. Ensures a highly collaborative relationship with nursing and other clinical leaders in the development of transition to practice programs. Markets programs with local schools of nursing. 4. Business Acumen: Consults with People and Culture to recruit and interview nurse residency candidates. Coordinates all nurse residency programming. Partners with nursing leaders to determine residency placements. Collaborates and communicates to nurse managers and other key leaders regarding residency programs. Coordinates, plans initial and ongoing nurse residency program components. Evaluates SNAP and preceptor programs according to key metrics, including participant satisfaction, leader satisfaction, and retention rates. Support the preceptor and SNAP program as needed. Follows organizational policies and procedures. 5. Strategic Planning/Evaluation:. Evaluates core processes to identify opportunities for improvement. Demonstrates creativity, imagination, and innovation when implementing nurse residency program. 6. Talent/Organization Development: Hires and coordinates all nurse resident components. Connects the dots between nurse residents and unit preceptors, unit leaders as well as clinical nurse educators by utilizing the organization’s mission, vision, values and promise. Sets clear expectations for nurse residents. Assist nurse managers of residency programs with coaching team members on the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully carry out the role. Provides nurse residents with emotional support and career counseling as needed.
