Summary:
A Clinical Coordinator is a Registered Nurse who functions as a role model, facilitator, mentor and coach for all clinical and support staff. Helps coordinate work shift activities in the clinical area. Assists the Nurse Manager with continuous quality improvement, personnel utilization, performance appraisals, resource usage and budget management, and maintenance of standards of care. Able to provide care to patients on designated units.
Responsibilities:

Supports and maintains a culture of professional accountability. Grows and nurtures nurse leaders and team members. Creates and maintains a healthy work environments that results in improved patient outcomes, retention, and organizational excellence. Facilitates decision making within the department. Acts with honesty and integrity with employees and patients/families, showing and speaking with respect for the rights of others, human dignity, and diversity. Makes decisions in a timely manner. Coordinates the provision of patient care through delegation, problem solving, time management and organizational skills. Utilizes the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements, Novant Health Nursing Practice Model – Duffy’s The Quality - Caring Model©, evidence based practice and guidelines from formal nursing organizations as the foundation for nursing practice. Assures that team members provide care that is consistent with The Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements. Actively participates in unit practice and best practice committees. Promotes collegial relationships with physicians and other professional groups. Removes barriers for staff to assure optimal patient safety and satisfaction. Meets and maintains requirements of a Registered Nurse. Develops and implements plan for self-development in collaboration with the Director of Nursing or Nurse Executive. • Interpersonal Effectiveness and Communication: Creates an environment that supports and respects diversity where all team members feel safe, included, and free to contribute to the success of Novant Health. Partners with family and patients to resolve concerns related to the delivery of health care. Communicates with and involves the team through regular dialogue with all team members. Coaches and mentors the team in order to achieve our goals. Provides progress updates to staff in a timely manner, based on team’s needs. Utilizes communication methods and tools to deliver information that improves quality of personal and organizational decisions. Ensures timely and consistent communication. Participates in appropriate committees and teams. Makes unit/departmental rounds utilizing our leadership competencies/skills/tools. Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of team members, peers and other leaders. Inspires team members and helps connect the work of nursing to the goals of the organization. • Business Acumen: Upholds organizational policy and procedure. Provides project/process consultation. Develops and coordinates unit based initiatives or programs for a defined population. Participates in marketing/community activities related to the service line for Novant Heath. Utilizes productivity tools and supports the unit care team model to promote safe and effective staffing. • Quality Improvement: Evaluates factors related to safety, outcomes, and effectiveness and develops and implements improvement plans as needed. Makes decisions based on an understanding of data trending and variation. Embraces change and acts as a change agent. Is a live-long learner. Develops and implements an education plan for areas of responsibility annually in collaboration with Nursing Practice Education and Research. Monitors and improves staff satisfaction through recruitment and retention initiatives. • Customer Service: Creates an environment that promotes accountability through inspiration, coaching, and mentoring. Regularly makes the services standards a part of their dialogue when rounding with the team. Ensures team members and self respond to customers in a timely manner. Monitors customer satisfaction scores and makes changes for improvement. Works with team members to develop or improve processes to assure a Remarkable Patient Experience. Celebrate accomplishments with team. • Human Resources and Organizational Development: Provides ongoing feedback to team members on performance through mentoring and coaching staff. Provides for education and training of team members. Monitors, evaluates and coordinates workload trends and manages resources to meet patient care needs. Mentors team in development of leadership skills and maximizes their potential. Creates an environment that supports professional growth and development. • Uses the nursing process in providing, coordinating, or facilitating the delivery of patient care. • Maintains clinical and professional competency, according to department policies, procedures, and protocols, as appropriate for the age of patient(s) served. • Analyzes department metrics and quality control for teammate and patient interactions. |

Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree Preferred. Graduate of an accredited Nursing program; B.S. in Nursing or related field preferred. Experience: Minimum of one year experience as a clinical nurse in acute care environment required. Previous leadership experience preferred. Additional Skills/Requirements (required) • Has knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient(s)’ age. Has the ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs.
